Gachagua Says He Will Accept High Court Ruling on Impeachment Case
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said he is ready to accept any decision the High Court will make in his impeachment case.
He made the remarks on Sunday, June 7, during a church service in Karen, where he expressed confidence that the court will deliver a fair judgment. He said he believes the judiciary will handle the matter independently and fairly.
Gachagua noted that if the court rules in his favour, it would confirm that justice was served for him and his supporters. He added that such an outcome would strengthen public trust in Kenya’s justice system.
However, he also stated that if the ruling does not go in his favour, he will take the matter to the Court of Appeal, saying the legal system still provides room for further challenge.
The former Deputy President emphasized that all parties should respect the judicial process regardless of the outcome. He urged his supporters to remain calm and avoid any form of violence or disruption after the judgment.
He reiterated that his legal team will continue to pursue all available constitutional options if needed.
The case is being handled by a three-judge bench, which is expected to deliver its ruling on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Gachagua moved to court to challenge the legality of his removal from office as Deputy President, arguing that due process was not followed.
He said he remains confident in the courts and urged Kenyans to respect whatever decision will be issued.
