Police Line Securing a Crime Scene

At least 11 people suffered gunshot wounds in a shooting near a college stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday night. Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell confirmed the casualties during a press conference later that evening.

Six of the injured were juveniles, including an 11-year-old child, according to the police chief. A grandmother of one of the victims also sustained injuries while fleeing the scene.

Victims Injured Near Bragg Memorial Stadium

Authorities reported that one victim remained in critical condition following the shooting. Two others sustained serious injuries, while eight were reported to be in stable condition.

Revell also confirmed that one of the victims was a student at Florida A&M University. Police have not publicly identified the victims as investigations into the incident continue.

The shooting occurred near Florida A&M’s Bragg Memorial Stadium, close to Perry Street. Police officers, detectives and forensic personnel remained at the scene as investigators collected evidence and gathered information.

Revell said the department’s Violent Crimes Unit would lead the investigation. Authorities believe the shooting may have followed an altercation involving two or three individuals, although the circumstances remain under investigation.

Police Investigate Possible Dispute

The police chief said investigators were processing the scene and working to establish exactly what happened. Detectives were also gathering information to identify those responsible for the shooting.

“We’re still working the scene,” Revell told reporters, describing the ongoing work by detectives and forensic teams. He said officers were collecting as much information as possible to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Revell added that investigators remained committed to finding answers for the affected families. Police have not yet established a confirmed motive or announced whether the shooting was connected to the university’s homecoming celebrations.

Shooting Followed Homecoming Football Game

The incident happened hours after a homecoming football game at Bragg Memorial Stadium. The Arkansas–Pine Bluff Golden Lions defeated the Florida A&M Rattlers 31-28 during the match.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the shooting had any connection to the football game. Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident as they work to establish a clear account of events.

Florida A&M University acknowledged the shooting in a statement released late Saturday. The institution said the incident occurred near its campus on Perry Street on October 24.

University Urges People to Avoid the Area

The institution said its campus remained safe despite the nearby shooting. However, it urged people to avoid the affected area while law enforcement officers continued their investigations.

The university’s statement came as police worked to gather evidence and establish the sequence of events. Authorities have not released further details about possible suspects as the investigation remains ongoing.
