Multiple Vehicles Wrecked in Salgaa Crash Along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway

Several vehicles were badly damaged in a multi-vehicle accident at Salgaa along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Thursday night. The crash caused a major traffic snarl-up as motorists struggled to pass through the affected section.

Footage recorded at the scene showed wrecked vehicles scattered across the road, with some overturned. Motorists were seen stuck in traffic as the accident disrupted movement along the busy highway.

Authorities had not confirmed the number of vehicles involved by the time of publication. The cause of the collision and whether anyone died or sustained injuries also remained unknown.

The incident has renewed attention on road safety at Salgaa, a stretch associated with several serious accidents over the years. Its location along a major transport corridor makes disruptions particularly difficult for motorists travelling between Nakuru and Eldoret.

Salgaa's History of Deadly Road Accidents

The latest collision recalls another fatal crash reported near Simba Cement on August 22. That incident involved several vehicles and triggered rescue operations while causing heavy traffic along the highway.

Salgaa has long been regarded as an accident black spot because of its history of serious road crashes. One of the area's deadliest incidents occurred in 2009 when an oil tanker overturned and caught fire.

The 2009 disaster claimed 140 lives, making it one of Kenya's most devastating road tragedies. The latest crash has once again drawn attention to the dangers motorists face along the highway.

However, authorities were yet to establish what caused Thursday night's accident. Further details about the victims, vehicles involved and circumstances surrounding the collision were still awaited.

Laikipia West Aspirant Reportedly Involved in Crash

Separately, Democracy for Citizens Party aspirant Simon Mburu was reportedly involved in a road accident in Laikipia West on Thursday night. Mburu, popularly known as Uncle, is seeking the Laikipia West parliamentary seat.

Reports indicated that the collision occurred at Kwa Wanjiku Centre along the Nyahururu-Kinamba Road. His vehicle reportedly collided with a tractor, with images from the scene showing extensive damage to the car's front bumper.

The tractor was also pictured damaged and overturned following the collision. The incident prompted another traffic disruption as people gathered at the scene.

A second collision involving other vehicles was reportedly recorded at the same location moments later. Members of the public and traffic officers worked to manage congestion as the situation unfolded.

Reports circulating after the crash indicated that Mburu was safe. However, authorities had not officially confirmed his condition or the status of other people involved.

Authorities Yet to Confirm Circumstances

Police officers were reportedly present at the Kwa Wanjiku scene to assist those affected and direct traffic. The exact circumstances surrounding the collision and the subsequent incident remained unclear.

The two reported accidents occurred on separate roads in the wider region on Thursday night. Authorities had not released comprehensive details establishing the causes or confirming casualties in either incident.

Motorists using the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway and roads around Laikipia West faced disruptions following the reported crashes. Further official updates are expected to clarify the circumstances and establish whether anyone was injured.
