Molo Murder Suspect Reveals Why He Killed Form Four Student

A suspect in the killing of a Form Four student in Molo has been arrested after detectives traced him to a village in Kuresoi North.

The arrest followed a days-long manhunt launched after the body of 18-year-old Joy Wangui was discovered inside a house in Moto Location.

Suspect Found in Kuresoi North

Detectives from Molo worked with officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau in the Rift Valley to track the suspect.

He was eventually located in a hideout in Lagwenda village, where he was arrested and taken into police custody.

Police said the suspect was wearing clothes that allegedly had blood stains when officers caught up with him.

He was reportedly dressed in a blood-stained boxer, a white T-shirt bearing the deceased's name and black jeans with visible dry blood stains.

Student Found Dead at Home

Wangui, an 18-year-old student at Molo Secondary School, was found dead after her brother briefly left the house to visit a nearby shop.

He returned to find his sister lying in a pool of blood inside the kitchen, according to investigators.

Several weapons were recovered at the scene, including an axe, a panga and two knives that police said had blood stains.

The student's head was later found in a corridor, where investigators also found a message allegedly written on the wall using blood.

Police Pursue Relationship Dispute

Preliminary investigations linked the suspect to Wangui as her boyfriend, with detectives examining a possible dispute in the relationship.

Police said the suspect told them that he had confronted the student after accusing her of cheating on him.

He allegedly told investigators that the confrontation escalated after Wangui resisted his advances.

Police said he appeared tired and remorseful following his arrest.

Suspect Awaits Court

The suspect was taken to Molo Police Station as investigators continued processing the case.

He is expected to be charged with murder after the ongoing investigations are completed, while the deceased's body remains at Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.

Detectives are continuing to piece together the events that preceded the killing as they prepare the case for court.
