Kawira Mwangaza’s Husband’s Guitar Stolen in Meru Attack

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s husband, Murega Baichu, has reported the theft of his musical equipment during an alleged attack in Igembe Central. He is appealing to the public for help identifying the suspected robbers.

Baichu said the incident happened on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Gituine in Igembe Central, Meru County. According to his account, the attackers targeted Mwangaza and her team before taking several items.

In a Facebook post published on Tuesday, October 20, Baichu asked Kenyans to help identify those allegedly involved. He described the suspects as armed robbers and listed the equipment taken during the incident.

“Kindly help us identify these suspected armed Robbers,” Baichu wrote in his appeal. He said the stolen items included a public address system, his guitar combo and other belongings.

The musician did not disclose the estimated value of the missing equipment. Baichu has frequently accompanied Mwangaza during political engagements, providing musical entertainment at her public appearances.

Mwangaza Condemns Attack on Her Delegation

The reported theft comes amid claims of violence against Mwangaza and her supporters during political activities in Meru County. The former governor has separately condemned an alleged attack on her delegation at Githongo in Imenti Central.

On Tuesday, October 20, Mwangaza said the confrontation occurred as she prepared to attend Mashujaa Day celebrations. She claimed members, aspirants and supporters of her Umoja na Maendeleo Party were also affected.

“I strongly condemn the goon attack against my delegation and I today at Githongo, Imenti Central, as we aimed to attend the Mashujaa Day celebrations,” she stated. Her remarks followed reports of disruption involving members of her convoy near Githongo Market.

According to reports, the confrontation included stone-throwing and damage to a vehicle belonging to Mwangaza’s convoy. One person was reportedly injured during the incident and taken to hospital for treatment.

The circumstances surrounding the reported incidents have not been fully established in the available accounts. The allegations against the suspected attackers have not, in the supplied information, been confirmed through an independent investigation.

Former Governor Accuses Police of Ignoring Warnings

Mwangaza also accused police officers of failing to intervene despite allegedly knowing about plans for the confrontation. She claimed the authorities had received information about the anticipated violence but did not act.

“The plans were well known to the police but they ignored,” she said. Her statement raises questions about the security arrangements surrounding her political activities, although the supplied account contains no police response.

Baichu’s public appeal seeks assistance in identifying the people allegedly responsible for taking his equipment. He has not announced whether any of the missing items have been recovered.

The reported incidents add to tensions surrounding Mwangaza’s political engagements in Meru County. Further information from police or other investigating authorities would help establish what happened and whether suspects have been identified.
