The new branding was unveiled as the party seeks to establish its identity amid ongoing political discussions surrounding the Linda Mwananchi movement.
In a social media statement, Owino confirmed that TMP adopted the new logo on Friday, October 23, 2026.
The motorcycle symbol is closely linked to the boda boda industry, which provides transport and employment to thousands of Kenyans.
Reacting to the new logo, Owino praised motorcycle riders for their contribution to society, saying their services help people reach different destinations.
“Nduthi nayo inakufikisha kila pahali. God bless Boda Boda riders. Watu wa nguvu sana,” Owino stated.
Registrar Approves Mwananchi Party Symbol and Colours
Tabitha Nyandiek Achieng, a former internal auditor at the Homa Bay County Assembly, announced that the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) had approved TMP's new symbol and colours.
The approval allows the party to use the motorcycle as its official emblem.
Achieng also shared the party's slogan, “Tuinuke Pamoja”, which means “Let Us Rise Together”.
“Official: The Mwananchi Party (TMP) has today had its symbol and color approved by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. Hii ni chama ya Mwananchi. Pandeni Bodaboda Twendeni Tuinuke Pamoja,” she said.

TMP also said its identity was built around dignity, freedom and opportunity for everyone.
The party has identified Pantone 312, black and white as part of its official colour scheme.
Why Muungano Party Changed Its Name
The latest development follows the renaming of the previously registered Muungano Party to The Mwananchi Party.
According to information published about the process, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties announced the proposed name change through Gazette Notice No. 13935 on August 28, 2026.
Lawrence Nzunga filed an objection on August 30, but later withdrew it on September 8. The name change subsequently took effect on September 10.
The rebranding has attracted attention because of the debate surrounding the Linda Mwananchi movement and its registration.
On September 24, Owino explained that leaders associated with the movement had visited the ORPP on August 4 to seek information about registering the Linda Mwananchi name.
He maintained that the process to change his party's name had already started before discussions about the movement became widespread.
On October 2, the Registrar approved the reservation of the Linda Mwananchi Movement name following a ruling by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal.
The developments have prompted questions about the relationship between TMP and the Linda Mwananchi movement, as well as the differences between a registered political party and a political movement.
Supporters React to the New Logo
The new Mwananchi Party logo has received mixed reactions from members of the public.
Some supporters welcomed the motorcycle symbol, saying it reflected the lives of ordinary Kenyans and the importance of boda boda riders in the economy.
Others expressed continued support for Owino regardless of the symbol chosen for the party.
Chris B. Odhiambo urged members to focus on strengthening the party rather than concentrating only on its logo.
“We embrace our party. It’s incumbent upon us to build the party,” he said.
However, some Kenyans also questioned how TMP would distinguish itself from other political parties, including the People's Party.
The reaction highlights the challenge political parties face in building a recognisable identity and attracting support from voters across different communities.
Babu Owino Eyes Nairobi Governor Seat in 2027
The unveiling of the new logo comes as Owino prepares for the 2027 General Election, in which he has announced plans to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
The MP is expected to face Governor Johnson Sakaja, who is also seeking to retain the position, alongside other politicians interested in leading the capital.
During a September 28, 2026 interview with Citizen TV, Owino defended his decision to run for governor, pointing to his experience as the MP for Embakasi East.
He said his leadership experience at the constituency level had prepared him for the task of managing Nairobi County.
Owino identified roads, water supply, healthcare, employment and business opportunities as key areas he would prioritise if elected.
Other politicians reported to be interested in the seat include James Gakuya, Ronald Karauri, Agnes Kagure, Margaret Wanjiru, George Aladwa, Tony Gachoka and Geoffrey Mosiria.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the new logo gives TMP a fresh public identity as Owino continues to position himself for the Nairobi governor race. The party's ability to attract wider support will depend on its organisation, policies and engagement with voters.
