Ruto's Ally Wicknell Chivayo and Wife Reportedly Killed in Zimbabwe Helicopter Crash

Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke, have reportedly died in a helicopter crash near Marondera.

The fatal incident occurred on Wednesday evening, September 30, in the Marondera Rural area of Mashonaland East Province.
Zimbabwean authorities confirmed that the aircraft crashed at approximately 5pm and that there were no survivors.

Chivayo Reportedly Among Those Killed

Reports from Zimbabwean media outlets have identified Chivayo and his wife among those who died in the crash.
The reports said the couple were travelling aboard the helicopter when it went down near Marondera.
However, the initial police statement did not identify the occupants or provide their individual details.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said the aircraft had six occupants when the crash was initially reported.

A subsequent government statement described the aircraft as carrying a high-profile businessman, other passengers and two pilots.
Authorities confirmed that everyone aboard the aircraft had died in the accident.

Police Confirm Crash

The Zimbabwe Republic Police said the crash occurred in Marondera Rural at around 1700 hours.
Emergency teams were dispatched to the scene as authorities began securing the crash site and establishing what had happened.
The cause of the accident had not immediately been established as investigations were expected to follow.

Chivayo was a prominent Zimbabwean businessman who had gained significant public attention through his high-profile lifestyle and political connections.
