Ruto Appoints Former KNUT Boss Wilson Sossion to TSC for Six-Year Term

President William Ruto has appointed former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion as a member of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for a six-year term.

Sossion's appointment follows his nomination by the President and subsequent approval by Parliament after undergoing the required vetting process.

He joins the commission at a time when teachers continue to raise concerns over working conditions, remuneration, promotions and the implementation of various education policies.

Sossion brings extensive experience from his years representing teachers through KNUT. During his tenure as union secretary-general, he was a vocal critic of several TSC policies, including teacher delocalisation and the performance appraisal system.

His appointment therefore marks an interesting shift, as he will now serve within the institution he previously challenged on behalf of teachers.

Sossion has said his experience representing teachers will help him contribute to strengthening the commission and addressing challenges facing educators.

His six-year tenure will see him participate in decisions affecting thousands of teachers across Kenya.
