Sifuna Unveils Taita Taveta as Next Stop for Linda Mwananchi Rallies

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has announced that the Linda Mwananchi movement will hold its next public rally in Taita Taveta County. The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, as the group continues its nationwide political engagements.

The senator shared the announcement through his social media platforms on Monday, July 13. He encouraged residents of Taita Taveta to attend the gathering and participate in the movement's activities.

Sifuna indicated that the Linda Mwananchi team remains committed to visiting different parts of the country. He also joked about using the Standard Gauge Railway to travel to Taita Taveta for the rally.

The senator maintained that the movement would continue meeting Kenyans despite challenges experienced during previous events. He said the group's schedule would remain unchanged as more rallies are planned.

Nyahururu Rally Ended in Chaos

The announcement followed Sunday's Linda Mwananchi rally in Nyahururu, where violence interrupted the political meeting. A group reportedly threw stones at participants, forcing police officers to intervene.

According to the National Police Service, several people sustained minor injuries during the disturbance. Police identified Joseph Gitau among those injured after he suffered a chest injury.

Following the incident, Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata claimed his driver suffered a gunshot wound during the chaos. However, the National Police Service said investigators found no evidence that any shooting occurred.

Police maintained that the injuries reported resulted from the stone-throwing incident at the rally. Authorities urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information about the confrontation.

Six Suspects Await Court Appearance

The National Police Service confirmed that officers arrested six suspects in connection with the violence. The suspects remain in custody as authorities prepare to arraign them before court.

Police said investigations into the incident are continuing as officers gather additional evidence. Security agencies have also urged political supporters to conduct future gatherings peacefully.
