Jalang’o Denies Being Used to Fight Sifuna in Nairobi Politics

Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has rejected claims that political actors are using him against Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The lawmaker said his political decisions come from personal ambition and a long-term plan for Nairobi leadership.

Jalang’o spoke during an interview with political analyst Herman Manyora on Friday, June 19, 2026. He said his political journey does not depend on external influence.

Says Sifuna Remains His Friend

The Lang’ata legislator dismissed reports of a political rivalry between him and Sifuna. He said they maintain a good relationship despite speculation over their future plans.

Jalang’o explained that he would not have contested for the Nairobi Senate seat if Sifuna had also entered the race.

He said Sifuna is a close friend and confirmed that the two have not met recently.

Eyes Nairobi Governor Seat

Jalang’o revealed that his political ambitions go beyond his current parliamentary role. He said he hopes to lead Nairobi County in the future.

The MP said he wants to understand county politics before making that transition. He described his current political moves as part of a wider preparation process.

He added that his goal is eventually to become Nairobi governor. He insisted that nobody is directing his political decisions.

Nairobi Politics Enters New Phase

Jalang’o’s remarks come as politicians position themselves for key Nairobi seats ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The city’s Senate and gubernatorial races are expected to attract strong competition. Several leaders have already started building political networks.

For now, Jalang’o said he remains focused on representing Lang’ata residents. He maintained that his future plans follow his own political vision.
