Two Arrested as Police Intensify Crackdown on Katalang Gang in Kisumu
The National Police Service (NPS), in a statement issued on Monday, October 12, 2026, said the arrests followed intelligence gathered by security agencies. The operation was conducted in the Masogo area of North East Kano Sub-County.
Police Recover Weapons and Gang-Branded Clothing
According to the NPS, officers from Muhoroni, Masogo and Miwani police stations joined a multi-agency team to conduct the targeted raid. Two persons suspected of being active members of the outlawed group were apprehended during the exercise.
Police said crude weapons were found during searches conducted in the area. Several customised T-shirts bearing the name “Bimos Empire” were also recovered, with authorities associating the identity with the outlawed group.
The suspects were taken to Masogo Police Station, where they were detained pending further processing and arraignment in court. Investigations are expected to establish their alleged involvement in the group's activities.
Security Agencies Step Up Anti-Gang Operations
The arrests form part of wider efforts by security agencies to identify and disrupt criminal groups suspected of threatening public safety. The NPS said the operation was guided by actionable intelligence and involved officers from three police stations.
Authorities have continued to rely on coordinated operations to pursue suspected gang members and recover items believed to be linked to criminal activities. However, the suspects' alleged involvement remains subject to investigation and due legal process.
Police Appeal for Public Cooperation
The National Police Service urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station. Members of the public were also encouraged to share information that could help security agencies prevent crime.
The NPS provided emergency contacts 999 and 911, alongside the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) toll-free reporting line 0800 722 203. The public can also report information through the DCI WhatsApp number 0709 570 000.
Police said cooperation between residents and security agencies remains important in identifying suspected criminal activity and maintaining security.
