Parliament Dismisses Viral Cabinet Nominees Letter as Fake

The National Assembly has dismissed a viral document claiming Parliament requested integrity vetting for several alleged Cabinet nominees. Officials confirmed the letter is fake and urged Kenyans to ignore it.

Parliament issued the clarification on Thursday, July 23. It said the document did not originate from the National Assembly.

Fake Letter Circulated Online

The document appeared on social media using the National Assembly's letterhead. It also carried what looked like the Clerk's signature.

The letter claimed Parliament had sent five names to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for integrity vetting. It listed several politicians as alleged Cabinet nominees.

Among those named were Winnie Odinga and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed. The document also mentioned Koki Muli, Cleophas Malala and Agnes Zani.

Parliament Rejects Claims

The National Assembly said the document was fabricated. It asked the public to disregard the contents and avoid sharing misleading information.

The clarification came as speculation grows over a possible Cabinet reshuffle. Political discussions have intensified following recent developments within the government.

Speculation Follows Ol Kalou By-Election

The fake letter surfaced days after the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election. The contest ended with a victory for the Democracy for the Citizens Party over the ruling UDA.

Some social media users linked the alleged Cabinet changes to that outcome. Others claimed the government planned to replace several Cabinet Secretaries from the Mt. Kenya region.

Parliament has rejected those claims contained in the viral document. No official Cabinet nominations or vetting requests have been announced.
